Turning Infrastructure Progress Into a Marketing Asset for Skanell.

The Challenge

Skanell needed a way to document ongoing infrastructure work at a major job site. Not just for internal progress tracking, but as visual proof of progress they could share externally. What started as a straightforward time-lapse request for the site’s infrastructure work quickly grew in scope. The client wanted to document road conditions surrounding the building as well, so the final product would tell the complete story of the project, not just one piece of it.

In addition, Skanell was already working with an outside marketing production partner to create a polished promotional video. Our aerial footage would have to be seamlessly integrated into the larger deliverable, not a stand-alone piece.

The Approach

Drone Brothers built a capture plan around the realities of an active infrastructure site, manually flown missions rather than an automated flight path, since the terrain and road layout didn’t lend themselves to a simple repeatable route. That meant every flight was planned and piloted with intention, capturing the specific angles and progress markers that would matter most once the footage was edited together.

As the project scope expanded to include the main building, we adjusted the capture plan to integrate both elements into a single, cohesive time-lapse, giving Skanell the option to present the infrastructure and building progress together or as separate stories, depending on their marketing needs.

The Collaboration

Rather than treating this as a handoff-and-done project, Drone Brothers worked directly with Skanell’s marketing partner to ensure our footage would slot seamlessly into their final video. This meant delivering raw and edited assets in the format their production team needed, on a timeline that matched their broader campaign. Turning a construction documentation project into a true collaborative marketing asset.

The Result

What began as a single infrastructure time-lapse evolved into an integrated capture program feeding directly into Skanell’s external marketing efforts. The project demonstrates something we hear often from GCs and owners. Once they see what consistent aerial documentation can do, the scope grows because the footage becomes useful for more than just internal reporting.

Drone Brothers works alongside other vendors and marketing partners rather than competing with them. We handle the aerial capture with the technical precision it requires. Production and creative partners handle the storytelling, and the client gets a better final product because of it.

Why It Matters

Projects like this show why more general contractors are turning to Drone Brothers not just for one-off flights, but for ongoing capture programs that can flex as a project’s needs evolve from internal progress tracking to full-scale marketing content.
